LATEST CHURCH RESPONSE TO COVID-19 OUTBREAK
October 1, 2020
As you know this has been such a crazy time in the life of the church. I first want to thank you all for the generosity you have shown us as we try to balance being faithful in our work and worship at church while also being diligent to maintain the safest environment we can provide. As you probably know, Governor Reeves has set the new guidelines related to the Covid-19 pandemic, and many of the restrictions that were in place have been lifted. That being said, we have much to think about moving forward. The Session met on Tuesday and agreed to move forward towards a more “normal” church rhythm in the coming weeks. Here are some of the decisions Session has made in regards to worship:
In the coming weeks we will phase back into our typical Sunday pattern of 8:30 Contemporary Worship, 9:45 Sunday School and 11:00 Traditional Worship. An official date for returning to our typical Sunday will be announced soon.
In the meantime, we ask that you will continue to sign up for worship online so we can plan accordingly and practice social distancing. We will slowly start increasing the number of worshipers in the services.
While the Governor has lifted the mask mandate we are still encouraging people to wear masks in order to make others feel comfortable in coming to worship. It will not be a requirement, but it is encouraged.
We will be celebrating communion together on October 11th at both services using individually sealed gluten-free communion packets.
Children’s Ministry Info
Once we return to our typical Sunday Worship, we are asking families with kids 4th grade and under to come through the Southwest doors (it will be well marked) where they will be signed in at our new “Sign In Center.” Children going to the nursery will be ushered to the nursery. All other children can go with their parents to worship. After the 2nd song they will be dismissed to Bible Zone where they will stay until after Sunday School is over. (If you are leaving after the church service you may go and get your child.)
When signing up for worship online, please make a comment in the “notes” box that you will be needing the nursery so that we can plan accordingly.
Families coming to Sunday School and the 11:00 worship service will also go through the Southwest door, sign in and follow the same protocols.
Families only attending 11:00 worship will be asked to do the same procedure of signing their children in before worship and then children will be dismissed to Bible Zone in the service and can be picked up after the service in the Bible Zone room.
We will not begin Wednesday Night Bible study until the Spring semester
I think the most difficult part is there’s no right or wrong way to do it. We simply have to figure out what works best for FPC, our people and then plan accordingly. All I ask for is your continued grace as we continue to make these transitions in our worship services. If you have questions or need help please contact us in the church office and we can help.
